Solar photovoltaic energy
Solar photovoltaic energy converts solar radiation into electricity. Depending on its purpose, we distinguish several types:
Self-consumption
The energy generated is consumed in the installation itself. There are two types:
| Type | What it involves |
|---|---|
| Without surplus | An anti-injection system prevents feeding energy into the grid: all the production is consumed on site. |
| With surplus | The installation can feed the surplus into the grid, with or without compensation for the surplus. |
Generation plants
Installations whose purpose is to produce electricity to feed it into the grid. Above a certain power they require a technical project signed by a competent technician under the REBT; below that, a technical report is sufficient.
Off-grid installations
With no connection to the electricity grid, common on rural estates or remote locations. They combine photovoltaic generation with battery storage to guarantee supply, under the REBT.
Which type suits you?
It depends on your consumption, the available space and whether you want to self-consume, sell or operate off-grid.
Geothermal energy
Geothermal energy harnesses the thermal energy of the subsoil through a heat pump coupled to a buried exchanger (vertical or horizontal collection). By operating against the stable ground temperature, it can achieve functional coefficients of performance (COP) and cover part of the energy demand. The installation is designed under the RITE.
In the Balearics, where drilling is viable, the mild and stable temperature of the Mediterranean subsoil can provide a renewable energy contribution to our installations.
Fossil-fuel generation
When back-up, emergency or off-grid power supply is needed, generator sets running on diesel or gas are installed. Their installation is governed by the REBT and the applicable emissions and noise regulations. We design the installation and the fuel storage, and follow it through to commissioning.
What do we do?
- Preliminary study and sizing of the installation.
- Technical project: report, drawings and specifications.
- Processing and legalisation with the relevant authority, including the final works certificates.
